Emily is Programme Leader for the Sports Development and Management degree and is a senior lecturer in this area. Having joined Edge Hill University in 2014, Emily’s teaching and research is focused on sport policy and development within the sociology of sport. Emily teaches across the undergraduate and postgraduate provision and enjoys working with students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the broader context of sport and physical activity.
Emily is particularly interested in community sports development. Her PhD examined a non-host city experience of preparing for and delivering a sporting legacy from London 2012. Understanding local perspectives of policy and national priorities for sport is a key area of research for Emily.
Emily is developing her research in sport and physical activity, considering opportunities for physical activity and experiences of provision for particular target groups.
