Chen is a lecturer in business and management at Edge Hill University Business School. He earned his PhD degree from the School of Hotel & Tourism Management (Rank at first in the field of tourism and hospitality management), Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His PhD investigated the influential factors on the relationship between diversification strategies and firm performance. He completed both his PhD and MSc at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests cover corporate strategy, corporate governance, determinants of firm performance, Sharing /gig economy, and sustainability in MICE industry. He was also working as a tutor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Financial management and strategic management were his key teaching subjects. Chen also worked for different companies located in different regions and countries such as South Carolina U.S., Amsterdam, Netherland, and Hong Kong SAR for four years.
