Biography
Char Binns (she/her) is a Postgraduate Researcher and Graduate Teaching Assistant.
Char completed BA 'Religion in the Contemporary World' at King's College, London, also gaining the Associate of King's College (AKC). She was awarded the Betty Wood Prize for her undergraduate dissertation (on the globalisation/glocalisation of the Alpha Course).
Char was awarded a full scholarship to study MA Religions at SOAS, University of London, gaining a distinction.
With over 15-years work experience in the third sector, Char is an experienced project manager, events and communications specialist.
Supervised by Chris Greenough and Victoria Foster.
Research interests
With a background in the sociology of religion, Char looks at aspects of religion and spirituality in contemporary society through feminist, queer, post-colonial and decolonization frameworks.
Char's PhD research will focus on religion and spirituality amongst Millennial women, considering in particular, the impact of Instagram and "Influencer" culture.
