I am an adult and childrens nurse with 20 plus years clinical experience. I have worked in paediatric specialist hospitals across a number of settings including complex care, intensive care, risk management and back care management. I have been teaching across Health and Social Care settings since 2000 and am passionate about including the voice of the patient in all health related educational programmes. Since 2015 I have been the Chair of the Service User and Carer Group in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine.
My research interests since 2015 have involved studies both in the UK and in India and China looking at both pedagogical methodology in nurse education and also looking at the involvement of patients and care givers in nurse education in India and China.
In 2017 I was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship from Advance HE. I am a Senior Teaching and Learning Fellow in my Faculty and recently have submitted my application for D4 Prinicipal Lecturer Status. I am a programme lead of two top up degree programmes one in the UK and one that recruits students from one of our linked universities in China. I am also the module lead for six modules. I regularly give lectures both in EdgeHill at Work in progess and Centre for teaching and learning talks, as well as being invited to do similar in both India and China. Internationally I teach students nurses three times a year in China and have visited Manipal University in India on two occasions for research and also to give bespoke online guest lectures.
I am a member of the validating panel for CACHE and NFCE awards. On the editorial advisory board of the RCN Journal Nursing Children and Young People and a reviewer for three nursing journals.
