Organisation profile

Organisation profile

The Health Research Institute is a platform for facilitating supporting and nurturing multi and inter disciplinary healthcare research. We draw on collaborative research partnerships with external stakeholders in the NHS, social care, charities, and other health-related organisations. The HRI offers a focal point for academics from different disciplines and practitioners working across the healthcare sector to share research knowledge, skills, techniques and expertise.

This academic melting pot serves as a catalyst for innovative, collaborative, impactful research and offers a collective platform for communication and dissemination of research activity. It contributes to further development of research cultures that drive career development, leverage external funding and influence healthcare delivery. External collaboration enables strategic development in the context of health policies and research priorities that shape future healthcare. For example, through the reduction of health inequalities (UKRI) and by improving the lives of people with multiple health conditions (NIHR).

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):

  • SDG 2 - Zero Hunger
  • SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being
  • SDG 4 - Quality Education
  • SDG 5 - Gender Equality
  • SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  • SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities
  • SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • SDG 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
