Description of impact
This project aims to improve how cleft lip surgical outcomes are assessed by providing clinicians with an objective, easy-to-use digital tool underpinned by AI, Health and Computer Science research at Edge Hill University. The intended impact is improved consistency, transparency, and efficiency in clinical outcome assessment, reducing reliance on subjective judgement. Non-academic beneficiaries include clinicians, surgeons, other cleft care practitioners, healthcare organisations, and directly patients and families. The impact will be both immediate, through local changes in assessment practice during the project’s evaluation phase, and longer-term scale up, wider adoption across the country and worldwide, after having proved tool efficacy.| Impact date | 1 Apr 2026 → 7 Oct 2026 |
