In this workshop, we will introduce the Lesson Study approach, which originated in Japan over a hundred years ago and has since become increasingly adopted worldwide in both elementary and Higher Education. In the Lesson Study approach, a team of teachers collaboratively work with students and other key stakeholders to systematically plan, deliver and evaluate the teaching and learning processes that occur during a lesson. Research has highlighted the positive impact on both teachers and students. We will practically explore with participants how the Lesson Study approach can be adapted to their own practice so that any teaching situation in Higher Education can become a living laboratory to effectively understand and develop both teaching and learning.
