Description

How can vampires help us heal? In the 125th anniversary year of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, this interdisciplinary conference examines the continuing history of the vampire from the 19th century to the present, exploring how the vampire can function as a cultural figure of recovery, community, and regeneration. Where scholarship on the Gothic has historically construed the vampire as an embodiment of cultural anxieties, whether social, sexual, national, or medical, this conference brings together academics, heritage, creative industries, and fan communities to explore the possibilities the vampire affords for creating shared identities, collaboration, and community.
