    Description

    Focus and Scope

The Journal of Corpora and Discourse Studies publishes original empirical research employing corpus methods for the analysis of language in use as a vehicle of communication. We welcome contributions from any disciplinary background and theoretical standpoint that present research based on the systematic examination of naturally-occurring language in specific settings and contexts using corpus techniques.

In order to maximise the accessibility of research across disciplinary boundaries and to foster open and critical analysis, JCaDS places emphasis on the explicit and comprehensive documentation of discovery procedures, and encourages authors to publicly deposit the data and code used in their analysis whenever possible.

The journal also publishes reviews of books, software tools and corpora.

    Publication Frequency

Articles and other items are published collectively in this journal, as part of an issue with its own Table of Contents.

The journal is published twice a year (winter and summer issues).

    Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Authors of articles published remain the copyright holders and grant third parties the right to use, reproduce, and share the article according to the Creative Commons license agreement.

    Archiving Policy

The journal’s publisher focuses on making content discoverable and accessible through indexing services. Content is also archived around the world to ensure long-term availability.

Journals are indexed by Google Scholar and available for harvesting via OAI-PMH.

DOAJ registration will be completed for our journals on an individual basis as soon as possible.

To ensure permanency of all publications, this journal utilises the Portico service to create permanent archives for the purposes of preservation and restoration.
Journal content is also made available via Cardiff University’s institutional repository, ORCA.

If the journal is not indexed by your preferred service, please let us know by emailing [email protected] or alternatively by making an indexing request directly with the service.

    History

JCaDS was founded in 2017 to provide a venue specifically dedicated to studies that use corpus methods to research discourse phenomena, fusing quantitative and qualitative approaches to discourse analysis. The editorial committee reflects the methodological, disciplinary and geographical variety of scholars working in this field.

In the spirit of open science, JCaDS places emphasis on accessibility —appearing under the Diamond model of Open Access through Cardiff University Press— and transparency —encouraging the explicit and comprehensive documentation of data discovery procedures through the Harvard Dataverse.
