Description

SEMINAR: PREVENTING THE SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN IN SPORT
Unfortunately the sexual abuse of children and young athletes in sport is a reality in all countries. Spain is not an exception. Only a few countries officially acknowledge this problem and have sport-specific prevention policies in place. This seminar is divided into two sections. The first part will centre on the knowledge and experiences developed in the UK and Germany during the past decade. The second part will focus on how this knowledge might be applied to Spanish sport so that we might generate safer sport environments and models of best practice in order to safeguard children’s wellbeing.
